A physical trainer shared how to get down to 15% body fat
Muscle trainer Paul Revelia previously explained the changes he made to his routine that helped him lean to just 10% body fat when preparing for a physical show, but he acknowledges that goal is not necessarily the one that will be feasible for everyone. In a new video, he focuses on the more achievable goal of reducing body fat by 20% to 15% and offers some simple tips based on his own experience.
“You don’t even have to be very particular to track your calories, you don’t have to be very diligent to be perfect, you can drink alcohol, but I’ll talk about a few trades,” he said. The key here, he adds, is to make sure you’re eating the right proportions of macronutrients, meaning protein, carbohydrates and fat.
First, he recommends cutting out mayonnaise or using alternatives like mustard. “Light mayonnaise still gives you the substance you need, without giving you all the calories,” he says.
Second, Revelia points out that while eggs can be a source of protein, eating whole eggs will also contribute to your daily fat intake. “What I’m going to do is instead of having five, six, seven whole eggs, I’ll have two whole eggs and fill the rest of my needs with egg whites,” he says. Finding alternatives to snacks is also extremely helpful: Revelia suggests replacing regular potato chips with baked potato chips and choosing calorie-free sodas.
When it comes to meal prep, he also advises using cooking spray instead of oil. “It really saves you a lot of calories, and you don’t even have to factor that in because it’s so low in calories,” he says.
